RIGGER

Reporting to Regional Technical Manager

The successful candidate :

  • Should be strong and personally fit
  • Should be proficient in the use of computers

  • Should be well organized and able to coordinate multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and extremely focused, self driven, innovative and creative.

  • Should have a clean and valid driver’s licence

Applicants must have

  • Uganda Advanced level Certificate or Ordinary Diploma in Telecommunications or its equivalent in the relevant field.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry. especially majoring in Towers and Earth Improvement
  • Knowledge of metal works and technical drawing.
  • Towers and Earth Improvement experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out maintenance of tower and antenna installations within scheduled time.
  • Carry out alignment of transmission dishes tasks during installations and maintenance.
  • Interpret path loss/ RNP parameters as provided by the planners
  • Ensure proper installations of all BTS units and ensure proper earth installations and improvements for all sites.
  • Recommend the purchase of some spares and other tower maintenance tools for quality transmission links.
  • Carry out any other rigging works by other operational and project works.
  • Ensure all tower lights are functioning

REGIONAL TECHNICAL TEAM LEADERS

Reporting to Regional Technical Manager

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Good communication and analytical skills
  • Creative and innovative thinking
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Mobile Network Overview: GSM/CDMA.
  • GSM Radio network troubleshooting
  • Good skills on the transmission domain
  • Good knowledge on Standard KPIs
  • Proficiency in MS Office and its applications

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure implementation of established operational guidelines in his/her region.
  • Participate in integrated strategic thinking by working closely with the regional technical Manager to ensure that Network Operations and Maintenance plans and policies are considered within the context of UTL’s core strategic themes.
  • Provide input for the development of capital and operational budgets, ensuring adequate provision has been made for the funding of all planned technical activities according to UTL budget IDs
  • Create an OPEX budget with itemized limits and ensure its optimum and efficient utilization within these limits.
  • Use operational budget codes to manage monthly expenditures.
  • Ensure effective maintenance, availability, quality, operations, security and integrity of all wireless, transmission, fixed, Data/ISP and power regional network elements in accordance with operational guidelines
  • In co-ordination with other regional technical team leaders implements and ensures that schedules for preventive maintenance are all effected to plan
  • Supervise & co-ordinate project implementation in conjunction with the projects office in Kampala as per approved project execution guidelines
  • Execute operations and maintenance activities according to UTL cost saving strategies
  • Work closely with the regional technical team to ensure the efficient management and utilization of assets.
  • Manage succession in the team
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with abstract variables.

Applicants must have

  • A Degree in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering or its equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years in telecommunication business in Management, operations and maintenance environment
  • A valid Driving permit
  • Carry out performance reviews of all technical staff in conjunction with HR and RTM
  • Ensure the team is fully trained to carry out operational activities
  • Reporting on OPEX and quality on a weekly basis or as required
  • Access daily network statistics from HQ and use them to make business decisions

  • Participate in integrated strategic thinking by working closely with the regional business Manager to ensure that Network Operations and Maintenance plans and policies are considered within the context of UTL’s core strategic themes.
  • Provide input for the development of capital and operational budgets, ensuring adequate provision has been made for the funding of all planned technical activities according to UTL budget IDs

  • Proficiency in MS Office and its applications
  • Ability to interpret a variety of technical instructions and deal with abstract variables.

  • A Degree in Telecommunications or Electrical Engineering or its equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years in telecommunication business in Management, operations and maintenance environment
  • A valid Driving permit
