GIVEN A CHANCE …AND DOING WELL!
In 2004 Uganda Telecom partnered with a leading NGO The Kulika Charitable Trust, and launched the Uganda Telecom and Kulika scholarship fund.
Our vision through this fund is to support beneficial educational programs that will enable underprivileged Ugandan youth across the country to excel and succeed in today’s competitive environment.
We are promoting technological valuable educational areas investing in the future of tomorrow’s leaders by supporting students in the areas of Agriculture, Engineering Architecture, Human and Veterinary Medicine, Community Psychology, Food Science and Technology, Information technology and Development studies. This represents an initial commitment of 6 years and 56 students with an investment of 700 million shillings over the six year period.
Each student was picked for excelling in their respective areas of study and their exhibition of the potential to make a difference in his/ her chosen field.
Uganda Telecom has a history of contributing positively to the communities where we live, work and serve. It is our commitment to become Uganda’s premier corporate citizen.
“We have embraced our responsibilities and have undertaken social investment initiatives in health, education, sport and culture”.
The company is committed to enabling and empowering the people of Uganda especially those underprivileged youth who have strived against the odds to achieve educational excellence: it is here through our partnerships that we have placed our greatest devotion to make a practical and meaningful contribution to this nation”
We are privileged to be able to enhance these young people’s lives and hopefully by doing so, we will make a noteworthy difference to the nation of Uganda as a whole
2. TestimonialsThis Scholarship from Uganda Telecom has so much benefited me; I am pursuing my degree, it has reduced the burden over my parents. And it has generally changed my life I have now settled down to concentrate on studies for I no longer worry about being chased out of the university due to lack of tuition fees and out of the hostel because they also provide accommodation and feeding. I have also got friends through interacting with other beneficiaries of the scholarship. Generally I have to thank Kulika and uganda telecom for this God blessed offer and it’s my prayer that God rewards them greatly and increase them.
The message to my fellow students is not to give up with studies even if they face hardships in raising school fees because they is always the chances they will be assisted by these caring organizations that is uganda telecom and Kulika charitable trust. And let them know that the almighty God for he is the provider of each and everything.
Matsiko J Boaz, MUK, Bsc. Science in Agribusiness Management, Ntungamo, District
It has helped me settle down to work for my goal that’s becoming a medical doctor. At least now I can sit down to read my books in peace without having to worry about my fees, what to eat and even where to sleep.
Never give up, work hard in whatever situation you may be in. Life is what you make it.
Kabaramba Anita, MUK, Bsc. Medicine and Bsc. Surgery, Kabarole District.
Before I got the scholarship, all hope seemed to have gone but with the scholarship from uganda telecom and Kulika I see myself attaining my long time goal of joining the medical profession. It will indeed go a long way in making me what I have always wanted to be.
I would like to tell others never to lose hope and always know education is an investment that should never be under estimated.
Muttamba Winters Primus, MUK Bsc. Human Medicine and Surgery, Mbarara District.
Since education is the key for the future, with this scholarship I have been assured of a better future. And this opportunity made my life comfortable and created a state of joy since I am now assured of education.
I would advise other students who are in a state of doubt whether they will acquire education or not due to financial hardships, never give up because uganda telecom was created partly to provide chances to those who are unfortunate.
