The Uganda Telecom sponsored comedy night at national theater has become an event to look forward to every Thursday and large crowds turn up for the stand up comedy by the Theatre Factory.

When Uganda telecom announced that there would be free cocktails for the first 200 people to arrive for the grand comedy last Thursday, it is possible they had not anticipated the impact this would have.

Indeed, patrons started arriving by 6:00 for the show that was to start around 8:00pm. And as always, Uganda telecom didn’t disappoint. The cocktails were available and many people could be seen queuing patiently for their turn to have a taste of the all Blue Cocktail from Uganda’s number one communications company.

When the show kicked off, it started on a high, with Richard Tuwangye, setting the mood for what was to become a fun packed evening full of rib cracking skits.

The highlight of the evening came from Richard Anwar who gave an entire prospectus of the various course units offered at the University of Marriage. It was a keen observation of the problems that different sexes have with their spouses in marriage.

Patrick Mujjuka’s dream was another highlight. In his dream, he met, fought and killed about five lions, all bigger than him. Delivered in an Acholi accent, the story was so captivating because of the suspense it created, and then he dropped the bomb at the end of it by announcing it was in a dream.

Pablo, a crowd favorite was very impressive with his stand up skits and so were many others. The costume selection added to the flavor of the event.

The next grand comedy will be in September, something to look forward to. In the meantime, the ordinary comedy nights will continue every Thursday at national theatre so don’t miss out in preparation for the next grand event.
