Dear UTL Customers,

Following the UCC directive extending the SIM Card verification and validation exercise to 30th August 2017, SIM cards that were de-activated on Friday 19th May 2017 have been re-activated.

All UTL customers can now access all our products and services.

We still encourage all customers / subscribers that have not yet verified or validated their SIM cards using the National IDs to do so before the above mentioned deadline.

You can verify / validate your SIM Card in any of the following ways:

  1. Walk into any UTL Service center with your National ID or your National Identification Number (NIN) and seek assistance from a customer care agent.
  2. Take a photo of your National ID (front and back) and WhatsApp the image to 0717 700700.
  3. Dial *197# and follow prompts.

Legal documents required for SIM card verification and validation exercise:

  1. National Identity Card for Ugandan Nationals.
  2. Passport for Foreigners.
  3. Registration documents from Office of the Prime Minister for refugees;
  4. Registration documents certified by the Uganda Registration Services Bureau for Corporate Bodies with a headed letter specifying ownership of numbers and an attachment of the mentioned numbers.

In addition to the above mentioned legal documents, another measure taken by Government to ease the registration, verification and validation process, all new applicants whose National IDs are still pending processing will be permitted to partially validate their SIM cards using the Application ID number. Once you get your National ID bearing the National Identification Number (NIN), you can re-submit the same using any of the above mentioned channels for the verification and validation of your SIM cards to be completed.
